[old news] - DotNetMagic nolonger free

I love the DotNetMagic Windows Forms UI library written by Phil Wright, but I went over to the DotNetMagic site site last night only to discover that the library is nolonger free. I think this happened a while ago but I didn’t notice anything in .NET blog land about it. You can still download the GPL’d bits on SourceForge. Of course there is no link to these on the DotNetMagic site.

I’ve found the free windows controls at http://www.divil.co.uk/net/controls/ to be a decent replacement.

Yes, I use the controls by Tim Dawson from Divil in all my samples (because Magic doesn’t have a toolbar), like Evolve [http://www.dcooney.com/evolve/] and my xpath expression tester. [http://www.gotdotnet.com/Community/UserSamples/Details.aspx?SampleGuid=4f976e6e-9474-4813-b1cd-5e565f3219f9]. The magic library has some controls like VS.NET style tab controls etc which the DotNetWidgets doesn’t have.

You can still get an old copy of the lib in the #develop ide source (http://www.icsharpcode.net) by the looks of it
