Whereas beta 1 might take a few minutes to crash while working on a WPF project, beta 2 can go from zero to loading project to crashed and gone in about 30 seconds. The reliability has gone up too because if it does it once, it does it EVERY TIME! Don't take my word for it, just watch this great video. Although I don't like to try and take the lustre of this great release, I do find the non-standard error dialog, that uses the non-standard (and miniscule) OK button that doesn't respond to any of the usual dialog keyboard shortcuts and has the weird “orange square expander button” slightly irritating (the one that shows up about 24 seconds in to the little fiasco). Looks like it's time for me to delete my .suo file so I can open my project again, (which compiles and runs fine, as long as I don't open certain files in the designer). I heard during the week about the more rigorous process being used to develop Visual Studio 2008, and the “quality gates” things needed to go through to make it into the main release. Guys, compiling is not a quality gate.
